As a quilter of 23 years, and with 11 years of banking background, I knew
someday I wanted to own my own business. My vision began about 12 years ago when
I cut a house plan out of Country living magazine, knowing that this was what I
wanted my quilt shop to look like. Two years later after writing a 30-page
business plan, obtaining the funding I needed, and getting all the permits I
needed, the construction of my quilt shop began. The land my shop is located on
has been in my husband’s family since it was granted by King George in the
1600’s and had been passed down to us. Yes, I am very blessed. Seen to fruition
as a woman’s small business with a specific plan for success, it has been
described as a “gem in the woods.”
The beautiful Cape Cod style shop is nestled approximately two hundred and fifty
feet off of Route One in Cape Neddick, Maine, just six miles off Interstate –
95. Parking is plentiful for bus tours and quilt guilds alike. We are
handicapped accessible. As you open the door, a very cozy and inviting
atmosphere exists, attracting visitors from abroad who are on bus tours along
with local clientele and vacationers from around the United States.
